Twin Cities Doula

The birth of your child is one of the most important days of your life.  A doula is a trained birth assistant who accompanies families through childbirth to make it the best experience possible.  A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to mothers and their families before, during, and after labor.  Women who have doulas are shown to have faster, easier, and healthier births.

Rebecca is a doula trained in comfort measures to reduce pain and facilitate the progress of labor.  As a doula, she works with the mother and her family continuously during birth as well as serving as a support person and resource in the prenatal period and postpartum.

A mother will give birth most comfortably and effectively in an environment that feels safe and secure to her and when she is an active participant in the choices surrounding the birth of her baby.  There are many ways women choose to give birth - whether at a hospital, birth center, or at home, with pain medications or without, surrounded by family or in an intimate setting.  Rebecca respects the variety of ways women give birth and understands that woman needs to make choices about her birth before and during labor.  She helps the mother prepare for her birth and provides continuous support to her and her family when the birth day arrives.

For fathers and partners who want to play an active role in the birth, Rebecca can help them participate and support the mother with confidence and at a level where they feel comfortable.  She can provide guidance and make suggestions for what may work best for them and the mother.  The father or partner offers a loving support that only they can provide to the mother and their baby.  A mother who has the father or loved one and a doula with her through her labor and birth has the advantage of both a family member’s loving support and the trained guidance of a doula.

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not use it.
